Commentary
Tour 3 heads west across the Great Dividing Range and visits our nation's capital - Canberra. We then cross to the South West Slopes and Plains region, passing many large sheep and cattle properties. Following the Newell Highway we pass through the Lachlan Valley and continue our journey to the outback town of Bourke.
The next day we cross into Queensland where a cool drink at the border town of Barringun is welcome. Out here the towns are few and far between. After staying a night at the historic Corones Hotel in Charleville we head east to Brisbane. The roads outback are long, dry, desolate and straight. Sightings of kangaroos and emus are common. After a 2 day ride through cattle country and open paddocks we arrive in Queensland's capital - Brisbane.
A two day stay in Brisbane, which is a friendly, cosmopolitan city, offers you the opportunity to take a side trip to Moreton Island where you can feed dolphins from the beach. Continuing our journey, we head south down the east coast and cross the border into New South Wales and the beautiful and lush Northern Rivers region. On our journey to Sydney we pass through the coast towns of Port Macquarie and Port Stephens. After entering Sydney, riding across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, we stop at the Opera House for many photo opportunities. Staying at Sydney overnight, we relax and see the sights, before heading back to our base at Jervis Bay via the Blue Mountains and the Southern Highlands town of Bowral.
